The rugged seascape of Snow Hill Island.
Snow Hill Island just off the east coast of the Antarctic Peninsula was the base for the Swedish Nordenskiöld Antarctic Expedition. The men of that expedition spent the winters of 1901, 1902, and 1903 in a small hut just near from where this photo was shot.
Adelie Penguins build their nests of pebbles on the rocky beaches of Antarctica so this location is a perfect habitat. Paulet Island, Antarctic Peninsula.
Weddell Seal, Paulet Island, Antarctic Peninsula.
Paulet Island is also home to a large colony of Adelie Penguins.
Brown Bluff lies on the East coast of Tabarin Peninsula on the south-western coast of Antarctic Sound and is home for Adélie and gentoo penguins.
Neptunes Bellows (62°50'S, 62°33'W) - a channel on the SE side of Deception Island in the South Shetland Archipelago forming the entrance to Port Foster, the caldera of an active volcano.

It was so named because of strong gusts of wind that sometimes blow across the mouth of the channel. Sailing through here is exciting - it's a gap of only 400m wide and our ship captain navigated his way through by hugging the northern side (avoiding a submerged rock that lies just below the surface of the water in the middle of the bellows).
